CPC calculator: what does each click cost you?

Cost per click, or CPC, is the average price you pay for one click on an ad, calculated as total spend divided by total clicks. It helps you forecast traffic from a budget and compare channels. Pair it with conversion rate to reach cost per lead or sale.

How does the cpc calculator work?

Borrowed from Media buying: CPC = spend / clicks

CPC=SpendClicks\text{CPC} = \frac{\text{Spend}}{\text{Clicks}}

CPC depends on auction competition and ad quality. A higher click-through rate often lowers CPC in search auctions.

Worked example

A US service firm spends $1,500 and receives 1,000 clicks, so CPC = 1,500 ÷ 1,000 = $1.50.

How should I read my result?

Falling CPC

Quality and relevance are likely improving. Keep the ad and page aligned.

Flat CPC

Stable auction. Test new ad copy to lift click-through rate.

Rising CPC

Competition or fatigue is growing. Refresh creative and review keywords.
